Nexus Score FAQ

What is the Nexus Score?

The Nexus Score is a 0 to 100 rating that combines five pillars: expert consensus (30%), owner satisfaction (25%), performance and specs (20%), reliability and safety (15%), and value for money (10%). Products are only compared with others in the same category.

Can brands pay for a higher Nexus Score?

No. There is no field for advertising or affiliate relationships in the scoring engine. Brands cannot buy, edit or preview their scores. They can only submit factual corrections, which we verify before changing any data.

Why does a product with great reviews have a capped score?

Safety comes first. A product with an open safety recall is capped at 59, and a battery-powered product without a recognized battery or electrical safety certification is capped at 79. Strong reviews cannot outweigh a safety gap.

What does the ± number mean?

It is the margin of uncertainty. Scores built on many expert reviews, large owner samples and complete specs are High confidence (±2). Thinner data gives Medium (±4) or Low (±7) confidence. Low-confidence scores are marked Provisional and never appear as a top pick.
