Stem wobble
What does Stem wobble mean?
Noticeable movement at an electric scooter's handlebar, stem, folding joint or steering connection when those parts should be secure.
Stem wobble describes movement you can feel at the handlebar or see at a joint while the scooter is stationary. It does not identify which part is loose. A handlebar clamp, the folding latch and the steering connection require different checks. NIU’s support instructions separate those locations.
Why the location matters
If the handlebar moves against the upper stem, inspect its assembly fasteners using the exact model instructions. If the movement starts at the folding joint, check that every lock engages and stop riding if it cannot hold. If it starts below the fold, a steering connection or bearing may need service. Do not use a short ride to find the fault.
Our electric scooter stem wobble guide gives a parked check and explains when to ask for repair. Low tire pressure can affect steering feel, but it cannot explain visible movement at a structural joint.
