What does Folding latch mean?
The locking mechanism that holds a foldable electric scooter's stem upright at the folding joint.
A folding latch locks a scooter stem in its riding position. Depending on the model, it may use a lever, hook or another catch, plus a separate safety lock. The Segway P100S manual illustrates a two-stage lock and safety button for that model. Another scooter may use a different sequence.
What can go wrong?
A latch can appear closed without its second lock engaging. Wear, a bent part, a crack or dirt in the mating faces can also prevent secure closure. The hook that clips a folded stem to a rear fender on some scooters is a carrying catch and may have a different job from the riding-position latch. Identify the part in your exact model manual before adjusting it.
