Folding bike hinge
What does Folding bike hinge mean?
A frame or handlebar joint that lets a folding bicycle close for storage and locks in the riding position.
A folding bike hinge lets part of the bicycle rotate into a compact position. Its clamp or latch must secure the joint for riding. The exact mechanism differs by model, so a procedure from one bicycle may be unsafe on another.
When should you stop riding?
Stop if a joint will not lock, has visible damage or moves unexpectedly. Brompton’s maintenance guide describes its own hinge clamp checks. Use the manual for your bike and have a qualified dealer inspect a suspect joint. Our folding e-bike hinge check covers parked-bike observations.
